• All manner of moderately-produced single-night performances, including concerts, dance recitals, variety shows, and play collection readings

  • Blossoms are often large-cast engagements that keep community expansion and accessibility in mind, and many artists from Take Root and Unearth participate in order to practice their skills

  • These range from parody musicals and folk concerts, to dance recitals and original cabarets, to Pride month extravaganzas and fund-RAGER parties

  • So far in 2025 we have mounted The Colors of Paradise: A Dance Concert of new work from local choreographers, and later in the year we will host a second rendition of Cursed Into the Woods: A Fundraiser where audiences “curse” the show!

The Colors of Paradise: A Dance Concert

July 13, 2025 | The Attic @ The Tank

Forager Theatre Company presents their summer dance concert: The Colors of Paradise. Join us as we highlight and explore the many ways in which paradise presents itself; in community, in home, and in yourself. Featuring original poetic works alongside choreographic pieces, The Colors of Paradise is a moment to come together to celebrate togetherness, queer stories, and finding the things that make life beautiful.

Into the Cursed Cabaret: A Fundraiser

Nov 24, 2024 | Red Eye NY

To fundraise for our 2025 offerings, a crew of brilliant actors performed selections from “Chicago,” “Les Miserables,” “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Rent,” and “Into the Woods.” BUT this was no mere cabaret – it was the most unforgettable show tune extravaganza you’ve ever seen, because YOU, our humble audience, CURSED the show!  Curses were anything from singing at double tempo, transposing up a third, adopting a crazy accent, doing a wacky Broadway impersonation, interpretive dancing the lyrics, rocking out Britney riffs, and so much more!

Close to Home: A Summer Folk Concert

July 21, 2024 | Fort Tryon Park

Set beneath a breath-taking tree in Fort Tryon Park, Forager rearranged highlights from the ethereal otherworldly musical Children of Eden with a folk music lens. Through improvised dance, group song, and personal storytelling, we explored what it means to make your way in this world, break family ties, and write new chapters as the seasons change.

Jenna Todd: The Demon Waitress of Lulu’s

February 15, 2024 | Red Eye NY

Co-Production with The Musical Multiverse.

Jenna, a struggling pie shop owner, accepts the help of a mysterious barber in town, who promises – razor across his heart – that her under-baked business will rise, considering she’s his long-lost daughter! This collaboration with The Musical Multiverse was a rollicking, deadly parody musical of sugar, butter, and sweet, sweet vengeance.

Forager’s Annual Fund-RAGER

February 3, 2024 | Purgatory, BK

Hosted at Purgatory in Brooklyn, we threw a wild celebration of our two-year anniversary. Featuring a concert full of songs, monologues, dances, flash mobs, and speeches from all the productions from our previous years, it was a magical night of community-building, networking, and a look forward at hopes for the years ahead!

The Steven Universe Musical Experience

June 17, 2023 | LIC Culture Lab

Our celebration of Pride month concluded with a cast twenty Foragers recreating the music, characters, and stories of Rebecca Sugar’s Steven Universe TV program. Steven Universe features an array of LGBTQ+ characters and themes, and bringing them together for a beautiful night of song, dance, and crystal gems was a highlight of our summer.

Seuss Side Story & The Last 5 Razzle Dazzles

May 13 & 20, 2023 | The Duplex, NYC

Forager helped launch The Musical Multiverse, a performance series of original parody musicals that mash two existing fan-favorite shows together, with wild new arrangements, crazy combined storylines, and laughs aplenty. With Suess Side Story and The Last Five Razzle Dazzles, we dazzled our sold-out audiences with comedy, heart, and surprise!

“Freaks, Geeks, and Drama Queens”

January 28, 2023 | The Duplex, NYC

Our very first coming-out party for Forager Theatre Company, we put up a cabaret of songs that harkened to our identities as freaks, geeks, and drama queens. Featuring ten fearless performers, we staked our claim of what the company would seek to create space for and why people should keep coming back for more!
